The purpose of the Tobacco Education Program is to provide education services to eligible adult felony offenders referred to SAGE by the County Attorney after the filling of chargers for a specific misdemeanor offense: furnishing or selling tobacco to minors. Treatment includes a 3 hours class which provides referred offenders with an overview of youth tobacco use and purchasing practices, the current Arizona and federal tobacco laws that restrict sales to minors, strategies to avoid sales to minor, how to comply with the law, how to avoid fines, and behavioral change concepts.
